Project: Book illustrated Kinder-garden
Goal: To create a visually engaging, interactive storybook that would introduce young children to fire safety concepts in a fun and memorable way. This project aimed to simplify complex safety messages and present them through relatable characters, ensuring that children not only understand but also enjoy learning about fire safety.
Artist - Illustrator: Anastasiia Ananieva
Our team, in collaboration with our talented illustrator, crafted a series of preliminary sketches and storyboards to bring the characters and scenarios to life. Jane and Friends is led by Jane, a vibrant character with red hair and a love for science, who, along with her friends, learns about fire safety with the guidance of friendly firefighters. Working closely with our illustrator allowed us to create an inviting learning experience that resonates with young audiences, blending creative visuals with educational storytelling.
Sketches and preparation.
The initial sketches laid the foundation for the book’s visual storytelling. We carefully planned each scene to ensure clarity, simplicity, and engagement, focusing on actions that children could understand and relate to. Key safety messages, such as “Install a smoke alarm in every bedroom” and “Protect those you love,” are woven naturally into the illustrations to reinforce fire safety in a fun and accessible way.
Characters Design.
Each character was meticulously designed to be relatable and visually engaging for young children. Jane, our main character, introduces herself with her distinctive red hair and curious personality, making her the perfect guide for kids to explore the world of fire safety. Her friends add diversity and warmth to the story, encouraging inclusivity and teamwork.
The final artwork combines vibrant colours and friendly illustrations to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Scenes depict Jane and her friends in various fire safety scenarios, such as learning how firefighters prepare and seeing the inside of a fire truck. This visual approach helps teachers communicate the importance of fire safety through storytelling, fostering both understanding and retention.
